Eye Care (Ophthalmology)
A leading innovator and service provider of eye care in British Columbia.
Services
Providence offers ophthalmology services at both Mount Saint Joseph Hospital (MSJ) in East Vancouver and at St. Paul’s Hospital in downtown Vancouver.
Mount Saint Joseph Hospital
Surgeons at MSJ perform more than 5,000 cataract procedures each year, more than any other hospital in the province. MSJ surgeons also carry out about 90 per cent of British Columbia’s corneal transplants. MSJ also provides the specialized retinal surgery and glaucoma services.
St. Paul’s Hospital
The Eye Clinic at St. Paul’s concentrates on macular degeneration. This is Canada’s leading cause of blindness and the eyesight-related complication of diabetes. St. Paul’s is also home to neuro-ophthalmology, as well as uveitis and ocular immunology services.
