During your visit

Colposcopy

  • The procedure involves a pelvic exam like HPV screening and takes 10 to 15 minutes.
  • A doctor will perform the procedure with a nurse present.
  • A biopsy will be taken and sent to the lab for further analysis.
  • This is a diagnostic test, and the results will come back within a month. We cannot give you the results during your initial visit. If your colposcopy is normal, we will let your referring doctor know. If you need further treatment, we will let you and your referring doctor know about next steps.

 

LEEP

  • We will use local freezing on your cervix to make you as comfortable as possible.
  • Your procedure will take 10 to 15 minutes.
  • A doctor will perform the procedure with a nurse present.
  • We will remove the affected tissue and send it to the lab for further analysis.
  • We cannot give you the results during your LEEP procedure. We will follow up with you about six weeks afterwards.
