Having a CT scan of your sinuses before your appointment at the clinic will allow the doctors to have a better idea of what your sinuses look like and the best course of treatment.

The clinical coordinator will discuss with you whether this is necessary and make arrangements for it to happen before the clinic.

A spirometry is a breathing test that helps the doctors to get an idea of what your lung function is like and is a very important tool to monitor how your lungs are doing.

The clinical coordinator will ask you if you’ve had one before. If the test is needed, the coordinator will arrange for you to have one done before the clinic.

Unless you have had allergy testing completed recently, the allergist will likely conduct testing with you when you come into the clinic.

It is important to avoid taking any antihistamines within 5 days of your in-person appointment as they may interfere with the results. Examples include:

• Allegra/fexofenadine
• Aerius/desloratadine
• Benadryl/diphenhydramine
• Blexten/bilastine
• Claritin/desloratadine
• Reactine/cetirizine
• Rupall/rupatadine
• Dymista nasal spray (contains azelastine)
• Ryaltris nasal spray (contains olopatadine)

When you come for your in-person appointment, the respirologist may want to see you demonstrate your inhaler technique. Please bring the inhalers that you are currently using on the day of your appointment.
