On the day of your visit

All tests

Bring your BC Services Card or other health card/photo ID for verification.
Do not wear any perfume or scented products to your appointment.

- If you did not fill out the dizziness questionnaire and VNG consent form in advance, arrive 20 minutes early. This will give you time before your appointment to fill out the forms.
- Do not wear any eye make-up. If you have permanent make up tattoos, please bring a white eyeliner to the appointment.
- You will need to wear goggles during your appointment. If you wear eyeglasses and contact lenses, please wear your contact lenses. You should also bring your glasses with you to your appointment.
- Do not drink any alcohol for 48 hours before your appointment.
- Continue to take your necessary medications. This includes medicines for high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, heart condition and hypothyroidism.
- If you have been taking sleeping pills, tranquilizers, anti-depressants or anti-anxiety medication for more than three months, continue to take them. If you’ve been taking those medications for less than three months, please do not take them for three days prior before your test.
- Eat light meals on the day of the test but do not fast, especially if you are diabetic.
- The testing may make you dizzy. Someone must take you home after your appointment. We will not perform the test in its entirety if we are concerned with your safety in getting home.
- If you did not fill out the VEMPs consent form in advance, arrive 20 minutes early. This will give you time to fill out the form.
- Wear clothing that is loose around the neck. We will need to tape wires to your collarbone and neck.
