Rooms
Regular rooms
We offer regular hospital rooms to all patients. These rooms contain four beds and are free for patients covered by B.C.’s Medical Services Plan. Men and women share these rooms.
Private and semi-private rooms
We have a limited number of semi-private and private rooms. These rooms are not covered by B.C.’s Medical Services Plan and have an extra cost. Some extended health care plans cover this cost.
- Semi-private rooms contain two beds and a bathroom. Men and women share these rooms.
- Private rooms contain a single bed and bathroom.
While we cannot guarantee semi-private or private rooms, we will do our best to place you in one if requested. If none are available, we will move you into one as soon as possible.
Food
Patient meals
We will serve you meals during your stay.
Mealtimes are as follows:
- Breakfast: 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.
- Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
- Dinner: 4:30 p.m. to 5:10 p.m.
Each day, we will give you a menu to select the next day’s meals. The menu will follow the diet that your doctor has prescribed. A dietician may also talk to you about the foods you should eat at the hospital and when you return home.

We encourage visitors during your stay at Mount Saint Joseph. Family and friends play an important role in your healing process.
Families are welcome at any time. Providence Health Care does not restrict visiting hours to family members.

To contact a patient at Mount Saint Joseph or confirm they are at the hospital, call 604-874-1141. Press “0” to speak with an operator.
We will only release information if the patient permits us.
If a patient does not want their information released, we will respect their decision. We will not give their information to anyone, even close family and friends.
