Dr. Shannon Jackson is a hematologist specializing in non-malignant blood conditions, particularly inherited and acquired bleeding disorders. She is a Clinical Associate Professor within the Division of Hematology at St. Paul’s Hospital, part of the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada.
Dr. Jackson earned her medical degree from the University of Calgary in 2001 and completed her training in internal medicine, hematology, and hemostasis at the same institution. In 2009, she completed a Bayer International Hemophilia Scholarship/Hemostasis Fellowship and subsequently joined the Adult Bleeding Disorders Program in British Columbia.
As the Medical Director of the Provincial Adult Bleeding Disorders Program of British Columbia, Dr. Jackson co-founded West Coast Hematology and is actively involved in patient care. She is also the Physician Lead for Value-Based Health Care at Providence Health Care, where she is dedicated to measuring health outcomes that matter to patients and transforming healthcare delivery to a Value-Based Health Care (VBHC) model.
Dr. Jackson's commitment to improving patient care is evident through her extensive training and research. She earned a Master’s in Health Care Transformation from the Value Institute for Health and Care at the University of Texas, received additional training at Harvard University, and obtained her Green Belt VBHC Certification from the Value-Based Health Centre of Europe.
Her research interests include the individualization of prophylaxis in hemophilia, bleeding in collagen disorders, and the impact of aging on hemophilia. Dr. Jackson's dedication to advancing her field is reflected in her leadership roles: she is the past president of the Association of Hemophilia Clinic Directors of Canada and co-chair of ADVANCE (Age-related DeVelopments ANd CommorbiditEs in hemophilia) Canada.
