Providence Health Care Board of Directors

James Gorman joined Providence Health Care Board in June 2024 and was appointed Chair on July 29, 2024.

James is Senior Vice-President of Corporate Services at West Fraser, a leading building products manufacturer headquartered in Vancouver, where he helps oversee corporate development and works closely with governments across North America, Europe, and Asia to grow access to markets, maintain access to a sustainable timber supply, and to foster a positive investment climate.

Previously, James served as President and CEO of the Council of Forest Industries, which works with governments in support of the BC interior forest industry, and President of the BC Lumber Trade Council where he was responsible for advancing the BC lumber industry’s interests in the Softwood Lumber dispute between Canada and the United States.

Prior to joining the forest/lumber industry, James spent 19 years with the Government of British Columbia, ultimately serving in various Deputy Minister roles responsible for K-12 Education, Advanced Education, and Human Resources for the BC Public Service.

James holds a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from McGill University, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia.
