Harriet A.Washington

Harriet Washington is an ethicist, author, and lecturer in bioethics at Columbia University. She has previously held positions as a research fellow in medical ethics at Harvard Medical School and as a senior research scholar at the National Center for Bioethics at Tuskegee University. In her conference address, Harriet will speak to her work at the intersection of race, health, and ethics. She will draw from her award-winning book Medical Apartheid to discuss the history of medical experimentation on African Americans and to highlight how our systems continue to perpetuate health disparities for equity-owed groups today.
