What You Will Do

Summary

Reporting to the Housekeeping Supervisor, the Environmental Services (EVS) In-House Supply Lead oversees the day-to-day in-house laundering and issuing of mops, rags, curtains, and other supplies.

Your duties will include:

  • Assigns EVS equipment to staff, receives equipment and ensures equipment is clean, charged and in working order.
  • Performs a variety of stores duties including receiving, distributing, and maintaining supplies for various housekeeping areas.
  • Assists Supervisor with inventory maintenance.
  • Supervises designated EVS staff.
  • Performs laundry worker duties as required and transports a variety of supplies and materials within the facility and externally between hospital sites.

What You Bring

Education, Training and Experience

  • Grade 10 plus two years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • A valid Class 5 vehicle licence required.

The In House Supply Lead:

  • Oversees the daily laundering and sorting of in-house mops, rags, curtains and other supplies. Issues laundered supplies as per requisition.
  • Assigns EVS equipment to project and janitorial staff. Receives equipment after use. Ensures equipment is cleaned and charged for next days use including wiping down equipment, cleaning lint traps, exchanging chemicals and ensuring equipment is charging. Follows up on unreturned equipment.
  • Inspects equipment for damage and to ensure it is functioning appropriate and reports deficiencies to supervisor.
  • Receives, inspects, unpacks, counts and checks received goods against requisitions. Identifies receiving incorrect and damaged goods and contacts supplier, obtains returned goods memo from Purchasing and packs damaged goods for return. Completes appropriate documentation.
  • Assembles and issues supplies received from suppliers/vendors. Maintains records based on requisitions.
  • Stocks shelves and ensures appropriate stock rotation. Transports supplies to from loading dock to storage areas. Ensures unit housekeeping rooms are adequately stocked in accordance with departmental procedures and standards.
  • Advises Supervisor of in shortfalls in inventory/when reorder points are reached.
  • Ensures stores and laundry areas are maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Supervises designated staff by assigning and directing work, orienting to work area, providing input on performance to Supervisor and recommending additional training requirements.
  • Performs laundry worker duties as required such as operating laundry machines and dryers to wash mops, rags and other items, sorting, folding, packing and distributing laundry items.
  • Transports a variety of supplies and/or materials within the facility and externally between hospital sites by operating a variety of 2-axle vehicles and/or equipment such as cars, trucks, and tow motors.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
