About this clinic
The goal of the clinic is to improve the quality of life for people diagnosed with asthma. Our collaborative care model means as patients, you are directly involved in the decisions about your care.
Under the leadership of Dr. Del Dorscheid, and in collaboration with other doctors interested in asthma care, the mission of the asthma clinic is to provide state-of-the-art asthma care. The clinic also conducts research and evaluates new therapies.
Clinic hours
Wednesday afternoons and all day Thursday.
Note: Patients participating in research studies are seen on Wednesday morning.

St. Paul’s Hospital and Providence Health Care are committed to researching new solutions to help people with breathing conditions.
The Pacific Lung Research Centre at St. Paul's Hospital conducts studies in many respiratory disease areas. These include:
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (such as bronchitis and emphysema)
- Interstitial lung disease and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis
- Chronic cough
- Cystic fibrosis
- Asthma
- And other areas
Please speak with your respirologist to see if you qualify for these studies. If you have been diagnosed with a respiratory disease, you may also contact the research staff at 604-806-9485 or 604-806-8117 for more information. Physicians can contact the research office at 604-806-8117 to refer a patient for a study, or to discuss clinical trials.
Other asthma-related research
The health research program at St. Paul’s Hospital is managed by Providence Research. This research group helps to administer all the research organizations across Providence Health Care. Several of these health research groups conduct significant research on asthma.
Medical & professional referrals
Referrals are required for all in-patient procedures and outpatient clinics.
