Summary

Reporting to the Regional Manager, HIM Strategic Planning & Projects, the HIM Business Analyst, Strategic Planning & Projects is responsible for coordinating assigned projects or supporting specific projects to ensure project deliverables are completed on time. Works collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders and inspires others to achieve goals and deliverables through facilitation, effective communication and addressing potential barriers to success. Communicates with relevant stakeholders, staff and management on the scope and status of the project activities and acts as a resource. Liaises with consultants, other health care entities and other external agencies, as needed. Provides guidance and direction to project team members. Develops sustainable education and operational plans and evaluates outcomes.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline and three (3) years’ recent, related experience including management of projects, facilitating and managing consultative processes with a variety of stakeholder groups or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Familiarity with or understanding of health care systems is an asset.

Duties

Develops project plans, goals, objectives, timelines and deliverables with input from a variety of stakeholders and in consultation with the Manager/Leader or designate.
Implements project plan according to project methodologies, ensures successful and coordinated completion of project components and ensures readiness for project implementation.
Conducts project activities with specific focus within the HIM operational portfolio/area (i.e., Transcription, Records Management, Registration, and/or Coding).
Tracks project progress according to project plan, monitors and reports on the status and major issues/obstacles encountered. In collaboration with the Manager/Leader or designate, makes recommendations regarding project scope changes, rationale for change, seeks consensus and proceeds as needed. Acts as a resource to project team and staff, provides support and maintains project timelines.
Contributes to the implementation of effective processes to ensure project success and to assess project risks, identify risk mitigation strategies and monitor risk throughout the life cycle of the project.
Works in collaboration with the Manager/Leader or designate to communicate with stakeholders, project sponsors and the organization on the scope and status of the project/project component, benefits to patients and staff, obligations and responsibilities and changes in processes. Ensures questions and concerns are addressed.
Meets with designated stakeholders, explains parameters of project and seeks input from the interdisciplinary team. Works collaboratively with team members to establish roles and responsibilities, identify skills required and supports needed by the team.
Works in collaboration with Manager/Leader(s), team members and other stakeholders to develop a process of evaluation for project outcomes, data collection and analysis.
Trains, coaches, monitors and role models actions to project participants and others whenever possible which demonstrate the project framework and methodologies. Provides recommendations to Manager/Leader(s) on additional training requirements for project participants, if needed.
Participates on related committees and establishes positive working relationships in order to ensure successful outcomes and cooperation from others on the project.
Assists with the integration of the mandate of the project plan with existing services and programs where possible, in order to strengthen the project and ensure responsible use of human and fiscal resources.
Performs data collection and data analysis with internal staff and vendors to track volumes/reports, invoices, forecast costs/saving and performance indicators and metrics.
Supports development of supporting assets to include project charters, project plans, Spreadsheet models, standard operating procedures documents, workflow diagrams, and other project deliverables.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
