The right care by the right provider, in the right place at the right time

The new St. Paul's Hospital is a huge opportunity to build an innovative and integrated hospital from the ground up.

The hospital will continue to be an acute care, teaching and research hospital. It will provide a diverse range of services in areas including:

  • Heart and lung
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Mental health
  • Emergency
  • Critical care
  • Indigenous health
  • Kidney care
  • Seniors care
  • Surgical specialties

Features of the new St. Paul’s Hospital include:

  • Access to a wide range of integrated care programs and services
  • Better coordination between care providers and clinics
  • Single patient rooms with bathrooms and space for family to stay overnight
  • New technologies
  • Senior-friendly campus layout
  • Areas for wellness, rejuvenation and spiritual support

Hub for health care discovery, research and innovation

Research will be highly integrated throughout the campus. Planning is underway for a new state-of-the-art research, technology and medical complex directly across from the new St. Paul’s Hospital, known for now as the Clinical Support and Research Centre (CSRC).

Location

The new hospital and health campus will be located in Vancouver’s False Creek Flats. It is bordered by Station Street, Prior Street, Trillium Park and National Avenue.

The hospital is a 4-minute walk from Main Street-Science World Skytrain station. It's also close to major roads, the Pacific Central Station, and several bus and bike routes.

The campus sits on an 18.4-acre site, about the size of 15 football fields. This size allows for future expansion as health care needs evolve. Possible future developments may include an Indigenous Wellness and Welcoming Centre, office space, a residential building, and life sciences buildings.
